Biography
Jacques Berchten has over thirty years of experience in the field of visual communications. He owned a graphic design and a photography studio in Berne, Switzerland with selected clients Young & Rubicam, Inc., Schweizerische Volksbank, Swiss Postal Services, Schweizerische Volksbibliothek, and Schweizerische Kynologische Gesellschaft. As an art director, he has produced and created design solutions for most applications in the field.
In 1988, he joined Ralph Appelbaum & Associates, New York, a design firm specializing in museum exhibit design. As a short list, there, as a graphic exhibit designer, he was assigned projects such as "Being Seminole" Florida State Museum, Tallahassee, Florida and "George Eastman in Focus," International House of Photography, Rochester, New York, the “Jews of Asia”, Museum of Natural History, New York.
Jacques Berchten moved to the Bay Area in 1991 where he founded his own design studio two years later. Since then he directed design projects and served as an independent consultant to local organizations and design firms.
Now, Jacques Berchten specializes in graphic identity design, using creative planning strategies as well as drawing forms in his designs to concentrate on producing effective corporate identity designs. He works on his own, as a creative consultant and well as as an individual designer, or as a team member. Allways dedicated to the full idea of the client’s knowing who they are, and what they want to promise in their world of business.
He speaks four languages, English, French, German, and Italian.
